New Year… New You?

Happy New Year from all the team at My Nametags!

It’s that time of year again when we all make New Year’s resolutions, set goals and plan for the year ahead. It can be challenging to keep on track and stay motivated. At My Nametags, we’ve chosen some of the most popular resolutions and put together some tips to help you stick to your plans.

Get more exercise

Exercising is a very important part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. If you’re struggling to stick to your New Year’s resolution to get fit, try visiting YouTube. There are thousands of workout videos that you can do at home without needing any special equipment. You can also try getting the kids involved, going for a run around the park or playing football with your children and you will certainly burn some calories. Your step count will go up too and you might just have fun!

Be more organised

Every year we aim to be more organised in our lives. We often start the year on a good note but it’s easy to fall into old habits. Try making lists and writing things down, setting deadlines and keeping a diary. These can be helpful ways of staying on track and feeling organised. If you or your children are prone to loosing or misplacing your things, try putting a label on them. Our stickers and iron-on labels are a great way to help reduce lost property and stay organised.

Don’t Stress

Everybody can get stressed from time to time and sometimes stress is very difficult to avoid. If you’re finding yourself getting stressed, try some relaxation techniques such as meditation or yoga, taking some exercise such as a gym class or a run, and get enough sleep. These techniques help to combat stress and if you’re planning a stress-free year, these will certainly help.

Healthy Eating

If you have over indulged at Christmas and feel like starting the New Year off with some healthy eating, try keeping a food diary as this helps you keep track of what you’re eating. YouTube is full of fun cooking videos with lots of healthy recipes for all the family, you could even get the kids involved to keep them entertained on a rainy day. If you have a busy schedule, try to prepare meals at the weekends so you will be ready for the week ahead and avoid any last-minute trips to your local take-away.

Be Greener

It is becoming more and more important to be eco-friendly. Many of us set this as one of our New Year’s resolutions. There are lots of simple things we can do at home to live a greener lifestyle including, using less plastic, turning off electronics, recycling everything and walking short journeys or taking public transport instead of driving.  Labelling items can also help reduce waste, putting a label on items such as lunch boxes, water bottles, clothes and toys will help you to avoid buying them over and over again if they get lost.
